Klock Werkz Celebrated a Big 20 years in Business with Their Annual Pre-Sturgis Party

It was 2006 and I was on my ride to Sturgis and stopped for fuel just off interstate 90 in Mitchell, South Dakota. I do not remember exactly what I needed, probably a quart of oil or a light bulb, but when I asked one of the locals if there was a bike shop in town, they sent me to Klock Werkz.

I found the shop, they had what I needed and as we talked one thing led to another and they let me know that later in the day was their Pre-Sturgis Party and asked if I could stay for it. Not one to miss a party, I agreed.

Well, that tradition has continued and I have made that a stop every year since. Over the years, I got to know Brian Klock his wife Laura, the girls and everyone in the shop, and I look forwarding to seeing them and old friends every year as well as making new ones.

In addition to that, I did do photos and wrote an article on the event and have followed that party tradition every year since.

This year was no exception, as you see here.

The event has grown through the years as more people found out about it. For me and many others, it's a good time with friends. We have something to eat and drink in a more relaxed situation than the harried Sturgis atmosphere.

Many of us worked Sturgis, and at times it would be hectic with tight schedules. Okay, Okay, I do get to have fun too, but that is just me being me and enjoying being around motorcycles and the people who ride them.

In 2014 Klock Werks built an Indian Motorcycle for Jack Daniels, since I do my fair share of drinking Jack and I do like Indians this partnership hit the spot. Well now, don’t ya know, there was also plenty of Jack Daniels to drink and that continues to this day. Yes, and over the years I got to meet some of the good folks from the distillery.

As it turns out that this year Klock Werkz has been in business for 20 years and during the event the city did present them with a very special award, and Jack Daniels gave Brian an exceptional bottle of a very special Jack. I knew Bandit would be mighty jealous.

This year a down-home band played in the shop on a real honest to goodness stage. They were Weston Frank and they were good enough to get this ole boy up to shake a leg with the lovely Dmac, the love of my life.

The City of Sturgis is already planning the event for 2018, and if you are thinking about going you might want to think about stopping in Mitchell to attend the party.

You should jump into the Group Shot we set up every year. A good time was had by all.

While you are there you can check out their Super “Flare” Windshields and their ever- growing line of products. All Good Stuff I Got Ta Tell Ya.  I installed their windshields on my last two motorcycles and love them.
