Over the years, I have made many friends at this dealership, and I make it a point to stop by and say “Hi” to them every year. One of those friends Dee and I saw this year was Vinnie Soprano.

Last year, Vinnie was a Rally Rat (an esteemed group of employees of various H-D dealerships who travel to rallies and help staff the hosting dealership), but accepted a permanent position at Black Hills H-D in the warranty department.

This year, he took Dee, Beat-on and I on a behind-the scenes tour that started in the under-belly of the dealership. We got to see something most people never get to experience and it definitely left an impressionable mark on all of us. This is definitely a top-notch service department, but we three already knew that because all of us had our scoots worked on here for one reason or another.

The shop is huge, and has rows of lifts, all with motorcycles on them being worked on, in an efficient turn-around time to get the owners back on the road and enjoying the rally.

The parts department is stocked and full of qualified people to help owners locate the necessary parts and equipment to get them back on the highway.

They have a very large supply of new motorcycles if you decide you want to trade yours in, and best of all is the Huge Tent outside with row after row of used bikes for sale.

They literally have something for everyone, including some old vintage iron that’s not for sale, but is the owner’s private stock.

If you want parts for your Harley, or have it worked on, this is the place to go! The dealership does amp up everything for the Sturgis Rally, from t-shirts to other Harley products and motor clothes, for you to get for yourself or friends at home, who could not make the trip. Yeah, we all got them, “Hey can ya bring me a t-shirt home,” friends and family!

The best way to kill time while waiting for your repairs to be made while at Black Hills H-D, is to explore the dealership’s very large parking lot with many major industry vendors; some even doing installs on site.

I stopped at American Bike and Trike to see Greg “Troll” Hughes, who is their National Sales Director. I found out how many people were interested in their product at Daytona Bike Week, where one of their products WON the “People’s Choice Award” at Destination Daytona’s Bike Show. So, I wanted to take a closer look at their product.

The company specialized in conversion kits that will turn your current motorcycle into a traditional trike, (two wheels in the back), Reverse Trike (two wheels in front), or a Quad. They also have complete conversions for sale, as well as trailers and sidecars.

I will say that I was IMPRESSED with what I saw, their quality and workmanship. Due to how hectic it was, I did not have an opportunity to take one for a ride, but that may change in the future. If that happens – you’ll see it in another article on Bikernet Baggers and Bikernet Trikes.

I also got to visit Tilting Motor Works that makes kits to convert your motorcycle to 2 wheel stability with a 3 wheel ride. www.TiltingMotorWorks.com

After walking through all the vendors on-site, our last stop of the trip was dropping in on Klock Werks, maker of the Flare Windshield and catching up with Brian Klock and staff. Always good to catch up and let them know that my Dirty Girl’s windshield is doing fine! See you next year.
