Say you’re a small inseam or female rider, say you’re looking for a comfortable cruiser that you are comfortable on for a run to Laughlin and you want something cool; The 2013 Triumph America Cruiser with floorboards, windscreen and saddlebags is a serious contender.

The Triumph America's 27.1 inch seat height provides secure flat-footed confidence at stops and the America carries its weight low so it is nimble on its feet.  You’ll sit mostly upright in the large, wide saddle (the passenger seat is also roomy), and the sweeping-arced beach style handlebar makes for a natural, easy reach. The floorboards offer the rider variety of positions and complete the relaxed rider triangle.

The analog speedo’s prominent placement is handy, mirrors provide a clear, useful field of view, and the clutch and brake lever have a 4-position reach adjustment.  Triumph optional quick release windscreen optimizes comfort on the freeway.

There is a fast-idle pull-knob at the left EFI throttle body that designers effectively camouflaged as a pair of carburetors that is useful when the engine is cold. Triumph America's air-cooled 865cc vertical twin purr nicely and power delivery off idle is smooth, predictable. The Triumph America won't get novice riders into trouble. To make take-offs easy, maximum torque comes at a mere 3300 rpm and she runs up to the horsepower peak at 6800 rpm, with a quick shift into second you off.  The America has a 5 speed tranny and at freeway speeds you reach for sixth although the engine does not feel strained. The motor and long exhaust is quiet and easily overpowered by wind noise at high speeds.

Kayaba suspension has 4.7 inches of travel in the forks and 3.8 inches at the rear axle to cushion your backside on rough roads, the fat 16-inch front tire provides a secure steering footprint and stress-free ride over real world conditions. The relaxed 33 degrees of rake and roomy 63.6-inch wheelbase and the Metzler Marathon tires gives the Triumph America plenty of stability.

Roomy and relaxed ergonomics, the large headlight, wide seat, wide handlebar and voluminous 5.1-gallon fuel tank all work to create the sensation you’re aboard a much larger motorcycle. The America’s ample engine power is more than adequate braking and friendly handling make a compelling package.

Triumph motorcycles have been wildly popular in the U.S. as of late and rightly so.  Well engineered, competitively priced Triumph motorcycles are cool.
